Coding Theory
Although most authors recommend a background in Number Theory, I recommend some background in Coding Theory:
Shift Register Sequences, by Golomb (Aegean Park Press, 1982),
A Commonsense Approach to the Theory of Error Correcting Codes, by Arazi (MIT Press, 1988),
Coding and Information Theory, by Hamming (Prentice-Hall, 1980),
Error-Correcting Codes, by Peterson and Weldon (MIT Press, 1972),
Error-Correction Coding for Digital Communications, by Clark and Cain (Plenum Press, 1981),
Theory and Practice of Error Control Codes, by Blahut (Addison-Wesley, 1983),
Error Control Coding, by Lin and Costello (Prentice-Hall, 1983), and
The Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms, by Aho, Hopcroft and Ullman (Addison-Wesley, 1974).

Saturday
Spent a wonderful day visiting 2 of the college's museums. We saw a great many things
even though the buildings seemed small from first glance. old buildings that appeared to be 100 years older or more. brown stone and lime rock. steps made in more recent sties of concrete. step into the doors and you are taken on a visual journey into the deep past. Back to the greek and romans. replicas of Homer, Hadrian, Venus, and more. life size just as they are in the countries they come from.
tall and stately they loom above us transporting us into another time and place as we read each and every one of the plaques by their sides.
then we step into another room with coins from greece and rome, we walk through the artifacts that they used in their lives and jewlery they wore. clothing from the period are worn by dressmakers dummies in every room. adorning each room are several floral arrangements that are made I am guessing by students of the college. we find that they are asking all to vote on their favorites.
we then walk to the museum of anthropology. we take a visual trip into the lives of the Native Americans. This is a special treat for myself and family as we are Native Americans as well.
after the museums we jopurney out into the quad and enjoy the warm sunlight and surrounding scenery of students, visitors and wonderful blooms just starting to sprout.
a calm day of 60 degrees made the entire day grand for all.
